If The Past is This Good, I Can’t Wait for the Future

Anyone else struggling with waking up in the mornings to work out?

I was hoping after our wedding, I’d have a little more energy to get my butt up and to the gym! However, that has not been the case. I’ve researched a little on how to beat that desire to stay in that cozy comfy bed. The three things I found most legitimate, and helpful were:

  1. Don’t hit that snooze button, just get up. That extra few minutes actually mess up your sleep cycle, and make it harder to get your day started.
  2. Prep helps. Getting your clothes or bag ready to hit the gym makes it that much easier to roll out of bed and into the car. Once you get to the car, you gotta be golden, right?
  3. Get your seven to eight. Making sure you get to bed at a reasonable time is always a good idea, and super helpful when that awful alarm goes off. The first week of getting up, you may being falling asleep at your desk around 2pm, but I promise that will fade.

I will be doing my best to get my butt up tomorrow morning. Especially when this memory pops up on your Facebook newsfeed:

This was my first, and thus far, only full marathon. I’m the one in the leopard print pants. My best friend Laura had finished a couple hours earlier, and said after she jumped the fence to run me to the finish line, all of her aches and pains vanished. She’s such a badass. So, if the past (two years to be specific) was this good, it’s time to start on the future – my next 26.2 miles.

Here’s the plan I used for this marathon – it was extremely successful, and no injuries!
