Today is Thanksgiving, and a day that I haven’t focused on what I’m actually thankful for, for too long.
I’m thankful for my marriage. And that it’s more work than I ever thought it would be, but way more full of love than I could’ve ever imagined.
I’m thankful for my family, way down in Florida. I’m thankful that my mom is only a phone call away, and how happy she gets from a simple talk.
I’m thankful for advice. Advice from mom, friends, and husband. Sometimes, they can see me better and clearer than I can.
I’m thankful that our home is full of warmth and love, and that we simply have a home to warm and fill with love.
I’m thankful that each day is a new day. Each day offers a chance for the choice of happiness, love, and change.
I’m thankful for my relationship with my God, who always leads me down the path of good. And who is always whispering to me.
I’m thankful for the warm puppy curled up at my feet, and how excited she gets when I come in the door.
I’m thankful for memories – like all the games I grew up watching with my family where Brett Favre started. All the wins he loved getting, and the loses he took so well. Watching him retire tonight, and being inducted into the Hall of Fame was amazing, and way more emotional than I thought.
Brett Favre’s retirement reminds me how wonderful a lot of my memories are from my past. And how thankful I am for life itself. It’s beautiful how the paths of life softly and silently take us to where we are… right this moment.
So, here’s to you Brett – thank you for all the memories you reminded me of, and for igniting my passion for being thankful.
What are you thankful for today? I sincerely hope all of you have had a wonderful and happy holiday.
