The Storm Inside Me

creative writing, personal reflection

Hi friends. This week, I’m feeling led to dive into some poetry.

A Storm is brewing,
and it’s me.

The tendrils of my heart,
beg me to see.

My time is not up,
in this malevolent world.

I’ve much to wander,
my passion will not be furled.

Each day is a book,
words to be had.

As lost as Alice,
Hatter mad.

My tongue is tied,
my mind, the thread.

Will it ever be time,
to empty my head?

To worry about tomorrow,
or envelope today.

I chose now,
come what may.

Stronger than I think,
I am His daughter.

It’s time to climb high,
while these lies I slaughter.

I speak truth into my life,
I want to see.

There’s a storm brewing,
and it’s me.

  1. Love this! Keep up the good work 🙂
I’m exploring the dark side (which for me just means pain). My latest is a poem, too: https://askriverbed.wordpress.com/2016/07/12/distant-memories/

Check out Psalm 18. It’s a wicked storm, and there’s this flood and rain pelting and thunder booming, and you’re sinking. Then God comes rushing down from heaven right through the storm and plucks you out – since you’re drowning – and sets you in a broad place, dry and secure – because He delights in you! Whew. Powerful. And it reminds you that God is not all cherub wings and rosy sunshine. He’s the eye of the storm!

CS Lewis, in Narnia, wrote: “Aslan is a lion- the great Lion.” “Ooh” said Susan. “Is he quite safe?”…”Safe?” said Mr Beaver.”Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good.”

    1. @askriverbed you never cease to amaze me with your wonderful comments. Thank you for your inspiration. That Psalm is amazing, and so pertinent to where I’m at right now. And I looove CS Lewis. I really appreciate you taking the time to read and comment. ❤

      1. But that’s what we’re here for! Thank you for your vulnerability and expression – you’re a delight 🙂 It’s folks like you who are freeing me to walk through the difficult and painful – both in our circumstances right now, and in my mind. Very healing – so thank you! CS Lewis speaks to me too. He says, “We are far too easily pleased.” 🙂
